NEXT PRODUCTION
Picnic at Hanging Rock
by Tom Wright
Simon Clark directs our exciting April production of Picnic at Hanging Rock. This story started its life as a novel by Joan Lindsay which quickly became a cult classic. It has been adapted numerous times for radio, TV and film, and we present to you a chilling, captivating production adapted for the stage by Tom Wright.
Set in Australia, our cast of 5 actress bring to life the story of Mrs Appleyard (headmistress at an English girls college) and their ill-fated day-trip to the foreboding Hanging Rock. On St. Valentine’s Day in 1900 the school are set to enjoy a picnic, but three of the girls and one teacher go missing. No one knows what happened to them. This engaging and haunting tale retells this story and the effect that ‘the Rock’ and the happenings of that day has upon everyone we encounter. The human condition and its frailties are explored in Burnt Ash Drama Association’s unique, beguiling production. The style and mood (from acting, sound and lights) is set to be an experience unlike any other we have staged. This is certainly one production that you do not want to miss.
Our production is entered into the Kent Drama Association Full Length Play Festival, and we’d love you to see it! We are being adjusidcated by Amanda Sharpe-Conroy on Friday 12th April.
